as student i used Microsoft word mainly for papers. in this case we as students are not using it to its fullest potential and cannot see beyond following a certain format and using it to write certain files. in some cases Microsoft word is also in the case of students to do outlines for papers and also to distribute and organize workload when working with other people. In the case of professor, they use it widely not only for papers but for any written evaluation made for students. this includes quizzes, exams and even instructions for group projects. apart from that I've also heard professors using word to write letter and resumes and even emails.
In an environment setting i have to say i have witness a lot of people violating copyright laws especially when it comes to books because a lot of the students in the class would download them or get copies of it seen as how they are so expensive. i have also witness how many students violate this same law by not accrediting the owner of the intellectual property. The thing about this is that sometimes it occurs by accident for not following a certain format. As a professor, the way i would deal with these types of issues is by first providing various formats which allow students to follow straight guidelines in order to not commit plagiarism. Consequently after this i would monitor the use of this format by having students submit drafts and allow them to ask question when they don't understand certain aspects of the various formats. I would also try and encourage students to obtain financial aid which would allow students to obtain books which are out of their price range. Finally i would raise awareness of this issue seeing as how it is so commonly committed among young people.
3 issues that could be predominant in the classroom in regards to technology are, first the use of inappropriate sites whether this occurs by accidents or on purpose. I as a teacher would try to install software in the the school equipment in order to detect the use of inappropriate or malicious site. The next issue would be cyber bullying, in this case i would try to raise awareness to all students and invite experts to provide talks on the topic. Also after a cyber bullying incident has happened i would try to communicate with the school counselor and provide support for the student who was the victim. the last issue on the list would be invasion of privacy, in this case i as a professor would implement certain rules against the invasion of privacy, to raise awareness and also for the students to learn these rules and apply them at home.
